THE STORY BEHIND ACCORDWISE

Built from experience.For better assurance.

I’m Gabriel Serban, an ACA-qualified chartered accountant and the founder of AccordWise.

My background in risk assurance and advisory at RSM UK and HaysMac has taken me across financial, operational, and compliance processes. Along the way, I’ve led audit teams, reviewed controls, and helped organisations improve how they work.

That experience shaped a simple belief: the tools we use should give us more time to think.

01 THE CHALLENGE I SAW

Good work.
Too many moving parts.

Working in risk assurance, I saw how easily a single engagement could become spread across spreadsheets, document folders, email chains, and separate reports. Each tool held part of the picture. Keeping it all connected took time.

Evidence had to be chased and sorted. Testing strategies were rewritten. Review comments needed to be carried from one place to another. The work moved forward, but too much effort went into managing the process around it.

What stayed with me was the opportunity cost. Time spent organising files and recreating work was time we could have spent understanding the business, challenging assumptions, and working through more complex issues.

The process was taking attention away from the purpose.

More room for professional judgement.

I built AccordWise because I wanted a better way to do the work I knew. One connected workspace, shaped around how assurance teams actually deliver an engagement.

My aim was to create something useful for the industry: a platform that improves productivity, brings processes together, and gives professionals more space to apply their expertise.

I built AccordWise for the industry I know.
And for the people doing the work every day.
